Bartleby is a Grigori, also known as a Watcher, a certain denomination of Archangel able to read the soul like a book - specifically and especially, their sins. Bartleby can see the good and the bad, the stains and indiscretions in which people have partaken in the past. These could really range from mass fucking murder to... stealing a candy bar from a grocery store*.

This is just a little post to ask:

• what's up hey do you even have a soul
• can he peep the goods
• what kind of shit have you been up to, punk

This stuff may be irrelevant - hell, chances are he's probably not even going to bring it up in the conversation. He's not really some vigilante here to lecture all the murderers and thieves of the ship; quite frankly, he couldn't care less. You see enough genocidists (and you live with one for long enough) and you stop sweating the small shit. This is mostly just to figure whether he's talking to Mother Theresa or, like, Hitler and Skeletor's assbaby who pisses pure liquid malevolence and etc.

Is it okay for him to see it? Yup!
What sort of things might there be to see on their soul? He's mostly a good guy! But Soysauce has killed around two dozen people over the span of about twelve years. All of them were slavers and mercenaries, people who would enslave or kill civilians for profit -- Soysauce doesn't exactly pride himself on having killed those people, but he sees himself as having killed "evil people," so there's no excessive guilt there. He's otherwise got a pretty clean slate! Lots of freeing enslaved people, helping kids find their lost puppies, helping out orphanages, so on and so forth. Huge bleeding heart, loves helping people.

What sort of things might there be to see on their soul? LOTS OF MURDER. When he was fifteen, Kazama was forced into Battle Royale, where he and all of his classmates were made to kill each other until only one person survived -- Kazama killed eight other students and "won" that game. And then he became a terrorist sniper and killed a buttload of government and other terrorist people. And then participated in blowing up a bunch of government buildings, killing even more people. Murder murder murder. :( He doesn't particularly enjoy killing, and in the long run he just wants to watch his totalitarian government crash and burn so other people won't have to suffer like he did. But yeah, plenty of sinning, welp.
